Sailing

~Sail swiftly Maria~
the afternoon watch is upon you and
Steel blue waters churn with want;
Your survival is an Asylum Harbour.
Do not linger in this temper, nothing
between the devil and the deep blue sea
will prevent you from running ashore.
Then amid the flotsam, your decky and boy seamen
will expire to the depths of this seas locker. Only then
will the following sea wash your bones to shore.

Full and by Maria,
Neptune's ire eases-
bring out the Grog and
turn your bow into
the hauling wind.
By and large your journey
will be smooth now, sail on Maria.

The contrast between the two stanzas is arresting. I prefer the second - more hopeful. Maria is the ship?
